TRAPPED: The roll, accordion or storm panel must fit within the masonry or confined opening TRAPPED WIDTH: Is an opening with obstructions on both sides and the accordion or storm panel must fit between the obstructions. TRAPPED HEIGHT: Is an opening with obstructions on the top and bottom in which the accordion or storm panel must fit. Back to top What is a Stack, Stack Right, and Stack Left? STACK: Stack is referring to the accordion shutter when the shutter is open the Blades "Stack" to one side or another. Back to top What is a Daylight measurement and Trapped measurement? DAYLIGHT MEASURE: Is the measurement of the opening size, both “Width and Height” to be fitted with the accordion or storm panel. TRAPPED MEASURE: Is the exact size you need your shutter made. Back to top How to measure for the Roll Shutter? 1.) Always stand on the outside of the structure facing the opening 2.) Always give the opening size in inches at the widest point - Are there any obstructions that can not be moved? Pipes, Lights, Etc., if yes note the number of inches from the opening to the obstruction. Mark in the area clearance left or right on order form. If none leave blank - If the shutter is intended to fit inside the opening or between walls, we refer to this as trapped width. Mark the clearance area on the order form, left - right "Trapped" - If the opening is trapped give us the measurement of the narrowest point rather than the widest point. 3.) Always give the opening height point rather than the tallest point. - Are there any obstructions that can not be moved? Pipes, Lights, Etc. If yes, note the number of inches from the opening to the obstruction. Mark in the area clearance top or bottom on order form. If none, leave blank. - If the shutter is intended to fit between the soffit and a floor we refer to this situation as trapped in height. Mark clearance area on order form, top/bottom trapped. - If the opening is trapped, give us the measurement of the shortest point rather than the tallest point. 4.) Daylight measure: Is the size of the opening which is to be covered. 5.) Exact measure: is the opening size to be covered plus 7" for width and 12" for height. The extra 7" allows for the roll shutter tracks. The extra 12" allows for the roll shutter housing(box). Back to top What are the thickness of the Storm Panels? Storm panels are available in aluminum with a thickness of one thousandths of an inch at .050 & .062, 24 gauge steel. The panels are silver or white. We need the width and height of the opening along with a few other simple bits of information about your structure. We will determine the number of panels needed for your structure. Panel type: asks for thickness of panel .050, and .062 4.) Trap: Constitutes an opening that has a specific width. 5.) Panel height: height of panels to be ordered 6.) Trap: Constitutes an opening that has a specific height 7.) CMH: Ceiling mount header attaches directly to the overhead or build out used for going inside window opening at the top of window. (For trapped openings on accordions) 9.) WMH: Wall mount header attaches directly to wall above the window opening on accordions. Note: you must have a minimum of 3 1/4" above the window opening to use this header. 10.) Wall studded angle used for panels to attach to with wingnuts. Back to top How to install Storm Panels? 1.) Measure opening - divide - opening size with size of tracks - equal distribution both sides. 2.) Set bottom track on top of window sill & drill holes with hammer drill & 1/2"masonry bit - 2 holes on each end. Note: windowless sill dictates top of bottom track even with bottom of opening - drill holes 12" on center. 3.) Measure up from bottom track and subtract 1 1/2" from panel height for this specific opening. Mark left and right 4.) Set bottom of top track on your marks left & right - drill & set tapcons.
