| Accordion Shutter Installation Overview 1. Drill out top and bottom tracks, 12" centers using 1/4 inch metal drill bit. 2. Attach bottom track with 1 1/4 tapcons. Leave tapcons at the end of each track out unitl installing vertical. (Walkover tracks must use flat head tapcons which fit into walkover pin groove.) 3. Attach top track with tapcons. Make sure that the distance between the top and bottom tracks are no more than 1/4 inch larger than the blades for best fit. Make sure tracks are level. Leave the tapcons at the end of each track out until installing the vertical. (Make sure pins on accordian clear your attaching tapcons on walkover track). 4. Center wheels in top track and feed in. Wheels should be closest to wall with pins to outside. 5. Attach vertical with tapcons, 12" center. Position vertical behind the top and bottom tracks and secure with tapcons. This is why you left the track-end tapcons out in steps 1 and 3. 6. Attach starter strips to verticals with tech screws, usually 9/16" 3/4" self drilling. 7. Pull both sides of accordion together and make sure it closes properly and locks. Adjust male lock to fit female. 8. Mark pin holes to keep accordion open by moving accordion to open position and mark out where pins will fit into each top and bottom track. 9. Drill hole for top and bottom pin with 3/8" metal drill bit. Two for each side, one top and one on the bottom.
